It has to be said again that Tracy Chapman is an absolutely wonderful singer\songwriter.  I have listened to this track so many times that I swear the laser will wear a hole in the disc.  This Song With a Meaning has gotten me through some really tough times and I would almost bet it can for you. The message of this song to me one of being beaten down so you can go no further but it also contains a great love story.  Just like my marriage to my lovely bride, this song suggests that you should come 100% clean with you significant other before getting serious.  That is something I believe with all my heart and it will remove most of the problems in your life together if there is trust that you know everything.
